Hillary & Bernie in dead heat as O’Malley drops out

A poor showing for O’Malley in the Iowa caucuses drove him to drop out of the presidential race while leaving Clinton and Sanders are stuck in a dead heat.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign claimed a slim victory early Tuesday over populist firebrand Bernie Sanders in the Iowa caucuses, though the Democratic Party did not yet declare a winner.

On the Republican side, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz claimed a 3-point victory over New York businessman Donald Trump, who edged Florida Sen. Marco Rubio for second.

With all but one Democratic precinct reporting in Iowa, Clinton’s lead over Sanders was less than 1 percentage point. State party chairman Andy McGuire said the results were the closest in Iowa Democratic caucus history.
